A Frank Report on Undertow and Charlene Edge

Stop the travel story presses for the moment! They will begin next month with a peek into our trip to Greece, 2001. Today, however, I wanted to send you a quick note to do three things.

  1. To acquaint you with an investigative journalist, Frank Parleto.
  2. To give you the link to an article on Parleto’s blog site about the cult, NXIVM, and also The Way International. It was written by someone by the name of “G,” who identifies as a former Way follower. At the end, I wrote a comment to introduce myself and plug Undertow, which reveals much about The Way International.
  3. To include the link to Parleto’s blog that begins with my response to “G” and includes photos and material about Undertow.

You got all that? Clear as mud? Why am I telling you this now? Because recently, once again, I found out how much Undertow matters, especially to the now-adult children of Way followers I knew when I was in the group. I believe the story that Undertow tells is important to understanding their history and identity. This book is not just sitting on people’s bookshelves; it is actually changing lives for the better.

If I didn’t need to keep the names of these second-generation Way babies confidential, I’d shout them from the rooftops.

First, who is Frank Parleto?

“His work has been cited in hundreds of news outlets, like The New York Times, The Daily Mail, VICE News, CBS News, Fox News, New York Post, New York Daily News, Oxygen, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, The Sun, The Times of London, CBS Inside Edition, among many others in all five continents.” From Parleto’s blog site titled The Frank Report:

Third, Parleto’s article about Undertow and me begins with my response to “G”

At the end of that, you’ll see some comments. Verrrrry interesting.

Thanks for reading!

Your writer on the wing,

Charlene

Interesting indeed, those comments! Just goes to show how strongly some people still feel about TWI, both on the positive side (unbelieveable to me, but there you are) and of course negative.
I’m glad your book is out there, Charlene. It tells the truth about TWI, as my husband and I can personally attest, with 60-odd years in TWI between the two of us, most of it in the Corps. My heart goes out to the kids who grew up in TWI and are now trying to make sense of things. Your book is actually helping them. I hope Parleto’s blog brings it to a wider audience.
