Blogs are only words. But words can matter. Here are a few for whatever they’re worth today. They are my way of paying respect.
Paying respect to the dead and suffering
Gray skies overshadow our neighborhood this morning. Sadness infuses it, as well. In the forefront of our daily lives, we see and learn of citizens around the world suffering from the two current, terrible, death-dealing pandemics: COVID-19 and racial injustice.
This is not news you need to hear from me, but I say it to set the context for letting you know my writing on this website is intended to offer understanding and healing one way or another. Words often feel like weak messengers, but they are all I can offer here.
Join me today in this: to alleviate a bit of the suffering, let’s try and offer a kind word or gesture wherever and however we can.
Dedication
This post is to honor all who’ve died from both diseases, those who are alive but suffering from them, to health professionals attending them, and to their families, friends, and communities. Take a minute of silence to contemplate their situations. Try to imagine being in their shoes.
Words often feel like small offerings, but these are meant to convey empathy from my heart and peace to whomever happens to read them.
Respectfully, your writer on the wing,
Charlene
