Greetings, readers. This just in: a surprise! An unsolicited review of my second book …
Review of From the Porch to the Page: A Guidebook for the Writing Life
~ by Stephen J. Spencer, Ed.D., author of The Great Goodbye
Charlene Edge’s newest book, From the Porch to the Page: A Guidebook for the Writing Life, when absorbing the wisdom within its pages, will then be seen as From Page to Print.
There are remarkable gems within the pages, many of which I had used in my previous book. I wish this material had been there prior to my own writing journey.
The book is a journey in of itself, and is filled with examples of work from other experienced and well-known authors, and her critique is flawless. She also breaks down writing into effective sentences that draw the reader into the narrative, explains the discipline as foundational, yet understands that the writer must stand back, take a break to think, and having mentally rested, is re-charged to continue, an excellent idea when faced with potential writer’s block.
She dispels the fear about writing offering in its place hope and confidence to finish the writing journey.
Charlene’s book should be in every library of every writer surfacing in our times. It is a strong testimony of the courage it takes to embark on one of life’s greatest adventures.
