Greetings, readers. I’m thrilled to introduce you to my cousin, artist Judith Brandon, and announce the release of her beautiful children’s book, Spudz and Bugz. As Judy tells us, “It’s a tale about overcoming your fears and how important it is to believe in yourself.”
Judy’s mother, the humorist and writer Joan Brandon, was my mother’s youngest sister. I loved Aunt Joan! As kids, Judy and I shared holiday times with our families and summertime visits, too. She grew up to become a fabulous artist and storyteller. Keep reading for her bio and website address. I’m proud to share my cousin’s work with you.

I’m very excited to share the news that my first kid’s book is now going to print! This 22-page book has been years in the making. I am so fortunate to have the incredibly talented Erin Mulligan illustrate these characters. She gives personality and emotion to Spudz and Bugz with her sensitive and detailed craftsmanship. Together with the graphic design force of nature, Nancy Wasylysyn, we were able to bring the story to life.
It’s a tale about overcoming your fears and how important it is to believe in yourself.

Meet the artist, Judy Brandon

Judith Maureen Brandon was born in Indianapolis, IN in 1963.
She attended the Cleveland Institute of Art where she earned a BFA in enameling and drawing. She has been awarded numerous Best in Shows across the country for her large dynamic drawings as well two Ohio Arts Council Grants. She was included three times in the highly competitive National Weather Biennale international juried exhibition and is represented by Kenneth Paul Lesko Gallery.

Standing at just five feet she has to be extremely inventive at how she manipulates the materials in her studio. Her large physical gestures and tiny precise lines create a unique rich experience for the viewer”
